Fissure sealants
The deep grooves in your back teeth are hard to keep clean even with good brushing, which is where many adult cavities in molars start. A sealant fills those grooves with a thin protective coating, applied in minutes with no drilling or anaesthetic needed.
Night-time and sports mouthguards
A custom night guard cushions your teeth and jaw from the wear of grinding or clenching while you sleep, far more comfortable and effective than an off-the-shelf version. A custom sports mouthguard does the same for training and matches, protecting against chipped or knocked-out teeth without the bulk of a generic guard. For heavy clenchers whose jaw muscles are doing the damage, see Botulinum Toxin for Jaw Clenching and Grinding.
Fluoride treatment
A professional-strength fluoride application strengthens enamel and helps reverse the earliest stage of decay before it becomes a cavity, a quick add-on to your regular cleaning, especially useful if you’re prone to cavities or have sensitive teeth.
Snoring and sleep apnoea devices
If you snore or have been told you might have mild obstructive sleep apnoea, a custom-fitted mandibular advancement device can help, see Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Snoring for details.
FAQs
-
Not automatically. Plenty of people grind in their sleep without realising it, so we’ll look for tell-tale wear, cracks, and jaw muscle tenderness at your check-up, and only suggest a guard if the signs are there.
